Celebrating Young Women in STEM on International Women's Day

What better way to celebrate International Women's Day than by celebrating the triumphs of two young women in STEM? We told you before about how excited we were to become supporters of the Sedona Scorpions team in their first First Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics competition a few months ago. We're happy to update you that the Scorpions had great fun at their second competition at the end of January finishing 7th out of 28 after regular play. Their five matches resulted in 3 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss. They were also the only team to win the “Judges’ Choice Award” at this event.

On this International Women's Day, we'll tell you a little more about where we're so proud of the Sedona Scorpions. When they first started the team earlier this school year, neither of the two members knew how to code, build a robot, or anything really about engineering. To quote the Scorpions, "We knew FTC was definitely going to be a challenge, but

we were ready to take it on." And, take it on, they did!

We raise up this success story with the hopes of inspiring other young women to dream, explore, and challenge themselves - whether that's in STEM or any other areas of their lives. We also want to encourage everyone to find ways to coach, mentor, or otherwise support young women in their pursuits. Not just today, not just this month, but all year long.
